Brain Endurance Training to Combat Mental Fatigue



In the new world of “social distancing” many of us find ourselves having to adapt to new environments. It’s easy to get caught up in the frenzy created by unanswered questions and misinformation. Unfortunately, during this tenuous time, we need to remain calm and calculated in order to create opportunities in the face of adversity. Neuro Performance Training (NPT) can be a part of the solution to maintain mental awareness, manage stress and build resilience.


NPT stimulates the brain with neuro-cognitive drills. NPT programs assign a diverse set of exercises to develop cognitive literacy. The “novelty” introduced through various exercises induces neurogenesis, creating new neurons, while the neural activation helps the brain process information more efficiently. Additionally, we build mental stamina through Brain Endurance Training (BET), a specialized NPT program to combat mental fatigue.


Why is mental fatigue so important? Research has shown that mental fatigue in one of the key regulators of technical performance. (Marcelo, 2018) It has also been demonstrated that mental fatigue decreases tolerance, inhibits the ability to perform under pressure, and accelerates the onset of physical fatigue.


BET is not “mindset” training; it is not visualization or meditation. BET is the deliberate application of cognitive training loads designed to induce mental fatigue.
